Awesome Finish Tuesday at Del Mar

The sixth race in yesterday's Del Mar program turned out to have a sensational finish. Six horses closed towards the finish line extremely close to one another but when the photo came out, even-money favourite California Flag crossed the line in first.

This race was California Flag's first start since winning the Breeders Cup Turf Sprint last November at Santa Anita. Mike Smith guided California Flag to the victory, replacing the horse's regular rider, Joe Talamo, who is out with a broken wrist. Quick Enough and My Summer Slew finished in a dead-heat for second, while Cost of Freedom was fourth, finishing out the Superfecta that paid $89.80 or $70.90 depending on which was you had the dead-heat.
