Daverick Does It Again

Fresh off a stakes win in the Don Valliere Memorial Cup on August 1st at Fort Erie, Daverick continued his winning streak as he won his fourth race in a row on Tuesday.

In the fourth race of the program at "The Fort," Daverick sprinted out of the gate and onto the early lead in a lightning-quick :22.1 quarter-mile. He continued the quick pace by completing a half-mile in :45, without much of a challenge on the pace. Down the stretch, Daverick was chased by Teacher Boyne but was too much on this day and wired the field in :57.4.

This is certainly a horse to keep on your wagering radar as he is proving to be one of the top sprinters at Fort Erie this season. Daverick has been moved up in class in almost every race during his winning streak, and is proving to be too fast up front for closers. The thing I like about this horse is his staying power on the front end, even when he sets quick fractions early in the race. It seems like most horses tire out when pushing the pace of the race on the front end, but Daverick seems to have the fight in him to stay in front.

Purchased for $17,000 in the Ocala Breeders' Sale in April 2008, the four year old Gelding has now won 6 of 19 races lifetime and has earned approximately $100,000.
