Woodbine's leading trainer, Mark Casse, has one day left to try to capture the record for most training victories in one season. Casse currently has 86 wins this year and sits three wins behind the late Frank Passero Jr.'s record of 89 wins in one season. Passero Jr. established his record in 1995 and was Woodbine's leading trainer three times over his career. Passero Jr. passed away on Tuesday, after losing his battle with cancer. Casse has horses in four races on Sunday's card and will need to win each one to set the new record.
Here is the list of horses Casse has entered in today's card of racing:
Tropicaltemptation, Race 1
Indian Pond, Race 1
Pool Play, Race 10
Hailstone, Race 11
False Economy, Race 13
Casse will be Woodbine's leading trainer for the fourth consecutive season, as he leads second place trainer Reade Baker, by just under 20 wins. Post time for Woodbine's final day is set for 1:00 p.m., just under 90 minutes from now.
