Tizsation Breaks Maiden At Fort Erie

Tizsation, an At The Post 2010 CTHS Winter Mixed Sale "Horse To Watch", broke his maiden in Tuesday's fifth race at Fort Erie. Tizsation broke in front and put away his competition at the top of the stretch, winning the six and a half furlong maiden allowance for three-year-olds and up by seven and one quarter lengths.

Back in November, At The Post identified Tizsation as a "Horse To Watch" in the 2010 CTHS Winter Mixed Sale. Here's what was written about the now three-year-old son of Tiznow going into the sale:

Hip 175: Tizsation - Tizsation is a colt by Tiznow, a horse of the year and a two-time winner of the Breeders' Cup Classic. Over the course of his career he earned $6,427,830. Tiznow has also produced some great champion horses like Well Armed, who was owned by Winstar Farms and captured the Dubai World Cup. Although Tizsation has not had great races as a two-year-old, part of me feels like someone could get a really valuable horse for a good price. Tizsation has not placed in three starts in maiden special weight company, but a drop down into maiden claiming company could be just what he needs. Going into next season, anything can happen and this two-year-old may just surprise in the future.

Tizsation was entered into the 2010 Winter Mixed Sale by Touchstone Farm, but was withdrawn right before the sale began. He was entered into the six and a half furlong sprint by trainer Justin Nixon and owners Touchstone Farm.

In the race, Tizsation broke on top and was able to draw clear of the rest of the field as he set reasonable opening fractions of 23.50 and 46.18. Tizsation was still in front heading into the final turn, where it looked like Ready Response would be able to apply pressure. Tizsation would turn away any doubt at the top of the stretch, however, and cruised down the lane to romp by seven and one quarter lengths. The race for second proved to be the most interesting as Ready Response just held on at the wire over Silent Humor in third and Where's Ringo in fourth.

Tizsation now has one win to go along with one third place finish in five career starts. He has now earned $11,241 for owners Touchstone Farm.
