Big Red Mike, Hotep Return In Ontario Derby

Woodbine will feature the $150,000 Ontario Debry, going one mile and one eighth for three year olds on Saturday afternoon. Only two horses who started in the Queen's Plate in July will make an appearance in this race, winner Big Red Mike and second place finisher Hotep. Both horses have not raced since the Prince of Wales Stakes at Fort Erie and will be fresh and ready to race on Saturday. These two will most likely be at the front or near the front early in the race. Big Red Mike took the Queen's Plate by wiring the field and may try the same strategy in this race.

Another horse to consider in this race is Stately Victor, the 2-1 morning line favourite. This horse won a big Grade I stakes race, at the same distance as the Ontario Derby, as a 40-1 longshot at Keeneland back in April. Stately Victor then ran in the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes but finished in eighth place in both races.

The other three year olds rounding out the nine horse field include (listed in order of post position), Don Cavallo, Riding the River, Forgetthestorm, Village Drive, So Elite and Kara's Orientation.

The Ontario Debry is the eighth race on Woodbine's Saturday program. Post time is scheduled for approximately 4:26 p.m.
