Ojibway Signal Likely For Queen's Plate

Bill Tallon of the Daily Racing Form reported yesterday that Ojibway Signal will likely make a start in the 152nd running of the Queen's Plate on Sunday, June 26th at Woodbine Racetrack.

The three-year-old son of Niigon, out of Apache Signal by Announce, has just one career win, a one and three quarter length victory in an Ontario-sired maiden special weight race last September. Despite that lone win, Ojibway Signal's connections are hoping he has what it takes to grab a share of the massive $1 million purse available in the biggest race on the Canadian racing calendar.

Here's a quote from Tallon's story from Ojibway Signal's trainer and co-owner David Bell:

"I'm sure he'll get the mile and a quarter," Bell said. "How fast he'll get it, I don't know."

With the addition of Ojibway Signal to the field, it increases my list of probable starters I created yesterday to 13. Ojibway Signal's past performances don't really jump off the page for me, however. He most recently finished third behind Head Honcho and Control in that slow one mile and one eighth allowance race on June 1st. He breezed five furlongs yesterday in 1:01.20 at Woodbine.

Here's how my list list looks now, including Ojibway Signal in the Outsiders category:

- Queen'splatekitten
